Malaysian songstress Datuk Siti Nurhaliza and her husband Datuk Khalid Mohamad Jiwa today took time to visit the two siblings who were recently orphaned following their parents' death in a car accident on the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) last Saturday.
The couple's visit provided Nur Firuza Amira, 7, and Nur Firuza Aqila, 4, with a glimmer of happiness since the tragedy that also claimed the life of their youngest sibling, seven-month-old Nur Firuza Annisa.
It was understood that Siti Nurhaliza's decision to visit the children was made upon the discovery of a video on the internet that showed Nur Firuza Amira's wish to meet her.
"I had already intended to meet the siblings after I found out about the accident. Then, many of my fans tagged my Instagram account to the video link," said Siti Nurhaliza.
She admitted feeling tremendously emotional when she visited Amira and Aqila, however she managed to mask her emotions.
"I didn't want to cry in front of them. They have gone through a great deal which we have to accept as fate. Nevertheless, we hope they remain strong in facing the coming days," she said.
The renowned singer also denied a report circulating the Internet which said she was interested in adopting Amira.
"That is not true. The accident had just taken place and we need to respect the family's feelings. Amira will be with her family and relatives, and I will help as much as I can," Siti Nurhaliza added.
Siti Nurhaliza and Khalid, who spent about an hour with the children and their relatives, presented the siblings with clothes and toys. Amira was seen sitting on the singer's lap throughout the visit.
Siti Nurhaliza said the siblings will receive educational aid though the NurJiwa Foundation, an organisation established by her and her husband.
