Situation in flood-hit Selangor, Malacca, Perak improves

The situation in the flood-hit states of Selangor, Malacca and Perak continues to improve, with the number of evacuees having dropped to 618 this morning from 780 last night.
In Selangor, the number of evacuees went down to 462 this morning from 621 at 9pm yesterday.
They are being housed at seven relief centres, said Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Mohd Sani Harul.
They are SMK Meru, Klang, which had 129 evacuees; Kampung Parit Mahang community hall, Kuala Selangor (115); SK Sultan Abdul Samad, Kapar (62); Genting Sanyen community hall, Sepang (49); Tuan Mee Estate surau, Kuala Selangor (32); SR Pasangan, Kampung Asahan, Kuala Selangor (51) and Bukit Kuching community hall in Kuala Selangor (24), he said in a statement.
In Malacca, the number of evacuees went down to 118 as at 10.30am today from 121 at 8pm yesterday.
The Malacca Department of Civil Defence, in a statement, said the sky was overcast in the state this morning.
The department and the other agencies were monitoring the situation and were ready for any eventuality, it said.
In Perak, the number of evacuees remained unchanged at 38 as at 10am today, said state disaster management committee secretary Col (Rtd) Mohd Noor Hassan Ashari.
He said the evacuees were from Kampung Padang Serai, Batu Hampar, Beruas, and were being accommodated at Sekolah Agama Rakyat Radhuaniah.
