Situation in flood-hit Terengganu improves, evacuees now 1,022

The situation in flood-hit areas in Terengganu improved today, with the number of evacuees at relief centres dropping to 1,022 as at 8am from 1,606 at 10pm yesterday.
Terengganu Civil Defence Force director Lt Col (PA) Che Adam A Rahman said the evacuees, from 302 families, were being house at 21 relief centres in five districts of the state.
Hulu Terengganu, which is the worst-affected among the districts, saw a drastic drop in the number of evacuees, from 853 last night to 361 early today, he said in a statement.
"Two relief centres in the district were closed, leaving only four open," he said.
Che Adam said Marang had 488 evacuees, down from the 540 last night.
The number of evacuees in Dungun (87), Kemaman (58) and Setiu (28) remained the same, he added. -- Bernama
