The situation at Low Yat Plaza and Bukit Bintang area on Sunday appeared under control and was crowded, especially with foreigners.

A Bernama check found that the situation there remained calm and safe for people to shop, despite the spread of information on impending chaos.

On Saturday, the police increased security around the plaza after receiving information that possible supporters of controversial blogger 'Papa Gomo' would create problems.

Papa Gomo whose real name is Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris was detained by police at his home in the capital for allegedly publishing false and seditious information which led to the riot outside Low Yat Plaza at Bukit Bintang last Sunday.

The plaza and the surrounding area are still under police surveillance, although the walkway and routes in the area have been opened to the public.

Meanwhile, a security guard at the plaza, who declined to be named, said there had been no trouble since this morning and that everything was under control.
