Six offences were recorded by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) involving heavy vehicles during an integrated operation in conjunction with Deepavali here last night.
SPAD Enforcement Division senior general manager Datuk Che Hasni Che Ahmad said during the two-hour operation beginning 10 pm, 53 heavy vehicles were inspected and six notices were issued and investigation papers opened.
"Among the offences are no second driver for tourist buses and overloaded lorries. There are some drivers who failed to show the permit for the vehicle and have no licence for that particular class of vehicle," he told reporters at the Seremban Rest and Service Area of the North-South Expressway (Plus) here.
The integrated operation, which is also being implemented nationwide until Oct 22, was conducted by 65 personnel from SPAD, police, Puspakom, Plus and National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).
Che Hasni said the cases would be investigated under Section 57 and 22 or 23 of the Land Public Transport Act 2010, which provides fine not exceeding RM500,000 or a maximum jail term of two years, or both, upon conviction.
He said the police had issued five summonses for various road offences and AADK detained two lorry attendants and a driver after they were tested positive for methamphetamine.
