A six-year-old girl drowned in Kampung Batu 3 1/2, Jalan Sanglang-Kodiang here yesterday evening, just minutes before breaking fast with her favourite drink that was bought by her father from a Ramadhan Bazaar.
The victim's father, Mohd Ryzal Abdul Razak, 40, said his youngest daughter, Nur Zarif Hamani had craved to break fast with a milk drink which he bought at a bazaar nearby.
"She asked me to buy her a milk drink when I was buying murtabak with her seven-year-old brother and 10-year-old sister at about 6.30pm. Half an hour after returning home, I allowed them play in the house compound while waiting to break fast but 20 minutes later when it was time to break fast, Nur Zarif was missing," he said.
Mohd Ryzal and other villagers immediately started to search for her and found her bicycle near the river before finding her body at the bottom of the river about 15 metres from his house but efforts to revive her breath failed.
Meanwhile, in JOHOR BAHRU, the body of a missing boat capsize victim in the waters of Pontian on Friday had been found about 4.1 nautical miles northwest of Sungai Ayam by local fishermen this morning.
Johor Bahru Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency director Capt Syed Nor Adli Syed Ab Rahman said the body of Mohd Syami Hasing, 16, was found at about 9am by fishermen who were going out to sea.
