Six-year-old girl dies in road accident near Maran
Nur Qistina Aleya Ahmad Zamani was hurled out of the vehicle during the accident.
A six-year-old girl died after the MPV she was travelling in was involved in a collision with a trailer lorry at Km143.7 of the East Coast Expressway near Maran yesterday, police said today.
Nur Qistina Aleya Ahmad Zamani of Taman Mahkota Putra was hurled out of the vehicle during the accident which occurred at about 3.30 pm, said Pahang Traffic Police chief DSP Mohd Noor Yusof Ali.
The girl, who died on the way to hospital, had accompanied her parents, three siblings and an Indonesian maid on a trip from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur, he said.
Nur Qistina Aleya's elder brother, Ahmad Aqil Haziq, nine, fractured his right hand in the accident, he said, adding that her father, engineer Ahmad Zamani Yusop, 39, mother, fuel station operator Nurhanum Mohd Hamdan, 39, and two siblings were slightly injured.
The maid is suspected to have suffered brain haemorrhage, he said.
Mohd Noor said the trailer lorry driver, M. Ramesh, 37, was slightly injured.
He said the injured were sent to the Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh.
