Skeletal remains brought out of Wang Kelian forest
He said the remains were removed from the scene at 3.45 pm and sent to Bahiyah hospital in Alor Setar for post mortem.
The skeletal remains believed to be those of a human trafficking victim was brought out of Wang Kelian forest, Monday.
Padang Besar district polic chief, Supt Rizani Che Ismail said the remains were discovered by a police forensic team at a grave near an abandoned camp.
"The victim could have died and the syndicate did not have time to bury the body as they were rushing to leave the camp," he told reporters here today.
He said the remains were removed from the scene at 3.45 pm and sent to Bahiyah hospital in Alor Setar for post mortem.
"The remains were located approximately 100 metres away from Thailand's border; the terrain was so rough that it took three hours for the team from the General Operations Force camp at Wang Kelian to reach," said Rizani.
Work to dig up the mass graves that were found at the scene will commence Tuesday.
Earlier, Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar confirmed the discovery of 139 graves believed to be those of migrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh, in 28 human trafficking camps at Wang Kelian.
