Skeletal remains of child found, believed to have been killed by mother

The skeletal remains of a five-year-old boy who was believed to have beaten to death by his own mother was found at Bukit Mertajam, Penang today.
The body of the boy was found wrapped in a blanket in a oil palm plantation at Kampung Tongkang.
Penang Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Kesah when contacted said the boy’s mother had been giving conflicting statements.
He said the 30-year-old mother had previously made a report that her son went missing on Sept 20.
He said police had detained the mother and her 24-year-old boyfriend in Klang, Selangor.
When questioned, the woman admitted to beating her son to death at their home in Kulim, Kedah.
The woman then led police to the plantation where the remains of the boy was found. Police are investigating the matter to determine the motive of his death.
Police are also looking for the woman’s husband to assisat in investigation.
