The three Slim State Assembly by-election (PRK) candidates have submitted their respective visions that they will champion, when campaigning.

Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Mohd Zaidi Aziz, 43, said he would continue the struggle of the late incumbent Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib, who won the seat and served the people in the area previously.

"I will continue the struggle of the late elected representative in terms of development, education, housing and welfare of the people, especially in Felda areas and villages," he said when met by reporters after the nomination for the Slim by-election here today.

Mohd Zaidi said he would adopt a healthy campaign and would work closely with the PAS and Bersatu parties to ensure victory in favour of Perikatan Nasional.

Independent candidate Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi, 38, who represented Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) which had not been officially registered, wanted to emphasise on the noble values that must exist in society and to eradicate misconduct, in his campaign.

"For example, we reject corruption, things that should not be done in line with the noble values, especially of the Malays," he said.

The lawyer said voters also need to look at the credibility of the candidates who could realise their aspirations.

Meanwhile, another Independent candidate, S. Santharasekaran, 44, said among the reasons in his decision to contest as a candidate in the by-election was to realise his ambition to become a politician.

He said he ended his service as a teacher at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Behrang 2020, here, on Aug 14 for that purpose.

Santharasekaran, who hailed from Behrang Ulu here, also denied that he was contesting to break up the votes available, instead as a former educator and environmental activist, he wanted to fight for education and environmental care issues.
