Early voters on Tuesday (Aug 25) involving police personnel for the Slim by-election are reminded not to record and viral the images of their ballot papers on social media.
Perak police chief Datuk Razarudin Husain said it is an offence under Regulation 19 (8), Election (Travel Procedure) Regulations 1981, to transmit a picture of a ballot paper that has been crossed.
"This should not be done because a vote is secret," he told reporters after officiating at the handover ceremony of 44 units of Honda Civic 1.8-type mobile patrol vehicles (MPVs) at the Perak police contingent headquarters here today.
The Election Commission has set Tuesday as early voting day involving 277 voters consisting of police personnel and their spouses.
Speaking further on the by-election, Razarudin said no reports related to campaign offences have been received so far.
The Slim by-election on Aug 29 will see a three-cornered contest between the Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Zaidi Aziz and two Independent candidates Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi and S. Santharasekaran.
On the addition of the 44 new MPV units, Razarudin said the Perak police now have 288 MPVs and is able to carry out its full duties including crime prevention monitoring and patrolling.
