Snatch thieves caught in the act

Two snatch thieves on a motorcycle were caught in the act by police after they grabbed a handbag from a 23-year-old female student opposite Tunku Abdul Rahman College in Taman Bunga Raya, Setapak last night.

"The duo sped off after realising that they were being pursued by a police patrol car in the 8 pm incident.

"However, their motorcycle skidded when they reached Taman Melati, one km away, and the police arrested on one of them while another managed to escape on foot," Sentul police chief Zakaria Pagan said.

He said the police recovered a handbag containing RM45 and personal documents from the suspect who was in his 20s.

The police found the motorcycle was using a fake number plate, he added.

The victim, who sustained knee injuries, was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.
