Chanting the tagline 'reformasi', the crowd was seen moving towards Anwar's vehicle as he arrived at the High Court at approximately 8.54am.
Anwar's two-day appeal will be heard by a five-men apex court bench led by Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria.

Counsel Sulaiman Abdullah has withdrawn from Anwar defence team citing health reasons, as reported by Bernama.
Anwar, 67, was acquitted by the High Court on Jan 9, 2012 for allegedly sodomising his ex-aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan at Desa Damansara Condominium in Bukit Damansara on June 26, 2008.
The Court of Appeal overturned the acquittal and sentenced Anwar to five years in prison for the offence.
Subsequently, the Federal Court had set Oct 28 and 29 to hear cross-appeals of both the defence team and the prosecution.
