Minimal soil movements are still occurring at the landslide area at Teratai Apartment, Taman Bunga Raya, Bukit Beruntung, Selangor.
Hulu Selangor District Officer Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim said the latest report received from the Public Work Department (PWD) showed that the movements did not pose any threat.
"Work is underway to install sheet piles to strengthen the soil structure in the area affected by the landslide since Wednesday to prevent a recurrence of the landslide. PWD will monitor the soil movements at the scene hourly," he said when contacted by Bernama yesterday.
To date, 219 families, involving 860 residents occupying two apartment blocks, were affected by the landslide at 10am on Monday.
They were housed at three shelters, namely, SK Taman Bunga Raya 1, SK Taman Bunga 2 and SM Taman Bunga Raya 1.
Suaidi said, to date, PWD had not been able to determine when the residents could be allowed to return home as soil movements were still taking place.
Meanwhile, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (Operation) Mohd Sani Harul, when contacted, said several firemen from five stations in the Hulu Selangor zone were still stationed at the location as a precaution.
On Wednesday, Selangor Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said a full report on the incident of landslide at Teratai Apartment would be issued today (Friday).
