The solidarity between Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) administrative officers and 1.2 million settlers was the recipe behind its success.
Its chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said apart from the solidarity, loyalty and complete trust were also important to enable the continuation of the legacy of Felda development that had been made possible by the late Tun Abdul Razak in 1956.
He said a similar approach should also be applied in the aspect of corporate governance that prioritised integrity, in line with the Corruption-Free Pledge that had been implemented.
"To keep Felda strong, we have to go back to the original principles of making Felda a success from today onwards.
"Those involved such as the settlers and their children, should have solidarity in all matters such as oil palm planting, the arrangement of the plantation administration and so on," he said during TN50 Dialogue: Aspiration of Felda Citizen - Felda Negaraku Expression held in conjunction with the national level of the Settlers Day 2017 celebration, here today.
The dialogue was chaired by Felda Malaysia Youth Council president Muhamad Fadzli Hasan, and was also attended by Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Razali Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, Shahrir also touched on Felda's cooperation with Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB) in building homes for Felda's new generation as an effort to facilitate them to own a home without having the need to provide pay slips to obtain loan to purchase homes built by SPNB.
"So we are working with SPNB to help the Felda new generation to own a home and for a start, we are currently building a total of 8,400 units where house buyers only need to pay RM270 per month to SPNB," he said.
In this regard, Shahrir said, it was not immoral to use existing government agency such as SPNB in assisting Felda to solve the problem of ownership of affordable homes for the Felda new generation.
