A confederation of 12 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) will organise a public gathering on Saturday to express support and solidarity to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah in resolving the leadership crisis in the state.
The gathering to be called "Menjunjung Kasih ke Bawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Sultan Selangor" would be held for two hours beginning at 3pm at the Padang Sultan Sulaiman (Padang Kota Raja), Klang, and every strata of society are requested to express their support by attending the event.
Among the NGOs participating in the confederation called 'Angkatan Rakyat Sedar' (ARAS) are the Gerak Arus Rakyat Bawahan Selangor, Persatuan Anak Selangor Menyokong Menteri Besar (PASMEB), Persatuan Anak Seni Tanjong Karang, Persatuan Bekas Polis Malaysia and Persatuan Bekas Tentera Tidak Berpencen.
ARAS chairman, Abdul Rahim Abdul Wahab said the gathering aimed to express the gratitude of the people of Selangor on the wisdom of the Ruler in tackling current issues in the state.
"It is also held to tell Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim that the majority of the people of Selangor are very happy with the way he was administering the state and to ask him to continue this culture for as long he was required by the Sultan of Selangor," Abdul Rahim told a press conference, in Shah Alam, Thursday.
Abdul Rahim said he was targeting more than 2,000 people of Selangor to attend the program.
