UMNO Youth Chief, Khairy Jamaluddin said the crisis plaguing the government-owned strategic investment firm, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) must be resolved soon for the sake of the rakyat.
“We strongly hope for necessary action taken against the individual guilty in this matter,” said Khairy, who also voiced his concern on improving the state of investment for 1MDB.
Khairy, who is Youth and Sports Minister dispelled allegations hurled by UMNO Youth and deputy prime minister, citing it is a personal attack against top leadership especially the prime minister but it was able to withstand the attacks.
“The scathing remarks were purposely made to create unnecessary confusion and concern towards a certain issue. It isn’t wrong for anyone to be genuinely expressive over any issue.

Khairy said that positive mood was evident during the UMNO Supreme Council meeting held at Putra World Trade Centre’s Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, here today.
“Even the President was open and accepted the matters highlighted by the Supreme Council members,” he said.
Khairy, when prodded about the Milan Coup conspiracy to oust Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, said: “It is clear and obvious especially after the deputy prime minister had objected speculation that the meeting between several UMNO bigwigs even took place in the first place.
Khairy said that the meeting held in conjunction with UMNO’s 69th Anniversary was not about a leader’s position but to find solutions to issues that were highlighted.
“We realised that 1MBD is in trouble and together, we are seeking solutions to resolve the matter amicably,” he added.
Meanwhile, UMNO wanita chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said it was thanks to the strong bond between UMNO members that the party continues to remain strong and unperturbed when it was challenged and tested by internal and external forces.
“We are aware that there have been several issues need to be addressed delicately. Alhamdulillah, the Prime Minister has openly said that there are no issues between him and the deputy prime minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin … we strongly support both of them to resolve the issues raised by the rakyat,” said Shahrizat.
