A man allegedly raped his mother at their residence in Kamunting here on Wednesday.

Taiping District chief police, Assistant Commissioner Harrith Kam Abdullah said the police received a report about the alleged rape from the victim, who is a single mother of five.

The suspect, aged 21, who works at a tyre factory, was arrested shortly.

“The 48-year-old woman said her son had allegedly used aggression on her.

Harrith also said that preliminary urine tests (for drugs) were negative.

The suspect was today remanded under Section 117 to assist investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 376 B of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term between 6 and 20 years and whipping upon conviction.
