Sony launches console-based Spotify service
Partnership agreement between Sony and Spotify brings the music streaming service to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xperia mobile devices in 41 territories.
PlayStation Music follows up on a January announcement with its March 30 debut.
A partnership agreement brings Spotify to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and Xperia mobile devices in 41 territories.
The free service, which can integrate with the Spotify App on Android and iOS, can also be seen as way of encouraging PlayStation and Xperia users to take advantage of Spotify's $9.99 per-month Premium tier.
Sony's existing Music Unlimited service is also being used to support the partnership by offering two months of complimentary Spotify Premium to subscribers active as of March 29, 2015.
Spotify already has its own distribution deal with Sony Music Entertainment, as well as Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, among others.
