Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi will check with the authorities on former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's recent call for the arrest of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (SOSMA).
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Home Minister, said he would discuss with Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar if there was strong evidence.
"I do not know. That is the prerogative of the authorities, in this particular issue, the police," he said in a joint press conference with Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein at the 2015 UMNO General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre, here today.
Both of them are UMNO vice-presidents.
Dr Mahathir made the call on Monday during his speech at an event in Kampung Baru, here.
Meanwhile, on the details of the RM2.6 billion donation, Ahmad Zahid said they would be issued by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
