SPAN 2.0 for public service launched

Public Service director-general (KPPA) Tan Sri Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman said the original SPAN developed in 2007 was improved by requiring all ministries, departments and government agencies to implement value practice management in a holistic manner.

SPAN 2.0 focuses on three main components, namely value programme management, value auditing and intervention; and consists of five domains, namely value practice records, ideal values, personal values, organisation values and customer feedback to measure the level of public service value practice.

Speaking at the monthly assembly of the Public Service Department held virtually today, Mohd Khairul Adib also called on civil servants to continue ensuring national stability through strong public administration in accordance with the principles of Rukun Negara amid COVID-19.

He said the pandemic had indeed caused uncertainties in all aspects of life and the changes had demanded the civil servants to observe the new normal.

"The war against the pandemic had caused major stress, emotional instability, pandemic fatigue and other problems that weakened us.

"We have to get back up, stay united, hold on and continue fighting. Resilience is the best word to define us in facing the current situation," he said.

Mohd Khairul Adib said the public service must also have the characteristics of a resilient organisation to be able to anticipate, prepare to respond and adapt by diversifying the methods of service delivery in order to carry out their entrusted duties and functions.
