Special Branch officer shot dead

An officer from the Special Branch division was found dead yesterday with two gun shot wounds in the head on Jalan Negeri Sembilan, Federal Hill.

Acting City CID chief Khairi Ahrasa said, the 37-year-old lance corporal’s body was found by passersby at around 4.30pm and he is believed to have been shot a close range.

"Our investigations revealed that he died on the spot after being shot twice in the head," ACP Khairi was quoted as saying.

There was no weapon or any signs of struggle at the scene; however police had found an unknown motorcycle parked 1.5m away.

The police are currently trying to find out why the officer was in the vicinity and his body has been sent for a post-mortem at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
