A special court to try individuals suspected of being involved with militant or terror groups will be set up to address the issue, which is becoming a world threat, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today.
He said he had instructed the Chief Justice to work on it.
"If it wants to hold proceeding at night, it can do so, as long as these people (militants) don't do bad things, that can result in many people dying in Malaysia (like) what happened in Tunisia, Sharm el-Sheikh (in Egypt), Paris....," he said when winding up the debate at the last day of the 2015 UMNO general assembly here today.
He said presently, Malaysia is safe from terrorist attack because of the government's efficiency and firmness in handling the issue.
"(This so-called Islamic State) IS is dangerous. We have arrested 130 of our people (Malaysians)... there are bomb specialist. So, we have to be careful. We don't want something to happen, so we arrest them first before they can do anything.
"This security issue is up to (Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad) Zahid (Hamidi) and Hisham (Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein)," said the UMNO President.
Ahmad Zahid is also Home Minister.
Najib said security issues in Sabah would also be given priority by the government.
