Special meeting to discuss Kuala Besut by-election this Friday

The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting to discuss matters pertaining to the Kuala Besut by-election this Friday at is headquarters in Putrajaya.

EC secretary Datuk Kamaruddin Mohamed Baria said in a statement, here, today that they had received an official notification on the vacancy of the N1 Kuala Besut state seat from the state assembly speaker on June 27.

The Kuala Besut seat is vacant after its incumbent Dr A.Rahman Mokhtar died of lung cancer last Wednesday.

Kamaruddin said a news conference would be held by EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof after the meeting to announce the dates for nomination, early voting and polling.
