Special squad to curb vadalism and crime at bike lanes
Acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein today proposed that a special squad need to be set up to address the problems of crime and vandalism in the motorcycle lanes.
He said the squad could involve the Road Safety Department, Road Transport Department and People's Volunteer Corps (RELA). However he did not elaborate on the matter.
On the surveys carried out at the motorcycle lanes here, Hishammuddin said many facilities such as street lamps and road dividers were damaged besides robbery crime that threatened the safety of motorcyclists especially at night.
He said some improvements should to be implemented on these lanes such as improving the side slopes, maintaining the pump house in the tunnel, waterlogged areas and the street lamps.
