Pos Malaysia Berhad, in collaboration with the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry, is to issue on Thursday special stamps depicting local fruits.
Pos Malaysia's Head of the Stamp and Philatelic Division Yasmin Ramli said the stamps promote four types of fruit, namely jackfruit (in the 60 sen denomination); durian (80 sen); rock melon (RM1.20) and star fruit (RM1.40).
"This collection of stamps is very special and we hope it will help promote the fruits in the international arena in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2014 by way of this special issue," she told a press conference at the Pos Malaysia headquarters here.
Yasmin said the first-day covers would contain a special description of the fruits, and that Pos Malaysia targeted to sell 35,000 copies. She said 610,000 of these special stamps had been printed.
The special stamps and philately products can be obtained at all post offices in the country and selected stamp galleries or online via www.pos.com.my from 8.30am on July 17.
