"ALTHOUGH I’ve known her for four weeks, Cikgu is grateful and this meeting is the most beautiful."
That was the expression of Big Stage 2020 vocal teacher Syafizawati Sharif while sharing her sadness over the passing of Big Stage singer and contestant, Sandra Dianne.
Though only through a video call, Syafizawati or more affectionately known as Cikgu Shafi expressed gratitude for having 'met' with Sandra before her departure.
“I taught Sandra (in vocal training) through a video call last Friday.
"At that time, her energy was good and she looked happy.
"That was the last time I spoke with her," she said when contacted by Astro AWANI on Friday.
It never crossed her mind that it was the last ‘meeting’ with her beloved student.
Cikgu Shafi regarded her as an individual who has a calm and positive attitude, indeed a personality that should be present in a singer.
"Sandra is a gentle, calm and very 'cool' person.
“She does not like to talk about other people and is not noisy.
"She is really a good and easy person for us to get close with," she said.
Cikgu Shafi who was still shocked and sad said the demise of the singer of the song ‘Hey! You’ were very much felt by all the Big Stage contestants because they are like a family.
"In this Big Stage, we are like a family and Sandra has been a strength to her friends.
"When the other contestants found out about Sandra's accident, their emotions were a bit disturbed.
"Her departure has an impact on the participants because they love Sandra," she revealed.
Last Saturday, Sandra, or her real name Alessandra Dianne Ampuria was involved in a road accident on the Damansara Puchong Highway (LDP).
The accident occurred when the Sabah-born singer was heading to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) to undergo a full rehearsal session for the fourth week of the concert.
The singer then lost consciousness and was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Putrajaya Hospital.
According to Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia spokesperson Veea Norman, the singer breathed her last on Friday, at 1 am at the Putrajaya Hospital.
Her remains will be flown back to Sabah and will be buried in Kampung Kauluan, Tuaran.
