There is a need for stability in governance so that any reforms that were prepared to be realised, can take place.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said opined that changes will be harder to push through if there are frequent changes in governments.
"I do not want to use the change of government as an excuse because people say it is democracy. I understand this principle.
"However, instability (in governance) can cause all this (policy incoherence) because you keep jumping from one government to the other.
"Stability (in governance) is needed to ensure what is prepared to be changed, will be changed," said Azalina during her interview with Astro AWANI's Consider This.
She was responding to a query by the host Melisa Idris on the status of the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) which was launched in 2018.
"Of course by now it is outdated. It has been five years.
"With the debate on Suhakam Report 2020, hopefully we can come up with the next edition of the NHRAP from these debates.
"I do not think this Government should make changes based on our 'syok sendiri' culture. It must take into account stakeholders continuously, including voices from the MPs," said Azalina.
