Standard One schoolboy drowns in recreation pond

A seven-year-old schoolboy was found drowned in a recreation pond near his house in Teluk Kalong, Kemaman, last night, police said today.
Kemaman Police chief, Supt Mohd Said Ibrahim said Ahmad Waliyuddin Al Hasani Mohd Azhar is believed to have slipped and fallen into the pond as the body was fully clothed.
The body was sent to the Kemaman Hospital and the case had been classified as sudden death, he said.
Ahmad Waliyuddin Al Hasani's body was found at 9.35pm by a student of the Tati University College where his mother, Fatimah Rubaiah Che Jaafar, 37, works as a laboratory assistant.
Fatimah had looked for her son, a Standard One pupil of Sekolah Kebangsaan Teluk Kalong, after he went off to play at about 6pm and did not return for buka puasa.
"He had accompanied me earlier to buy goods at the shop," she said when contacted by Bernama.
