The long-postponed desire for some Malaysians to ‘balik kampung’ will finally come to fruition after the government today allowed state cross-border travel from Wednesday, June 10.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said in this regard, Malaysians who want to visit their parents in their hometowns can do so.
However, the Prime Minister said state cross-border activities were not allowed in areas under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
“Beginning June 10, 2020, state cross-border travel will be allowed except in areas designated under the EMCO.
“So, for those who want to visit parents who live in another state, they can do so.
“My only advice is to practise good personal hygiene, wear a face mask when in public and avoid being in crowded places when returning home to the village.
“Remember, if your parents are senior citizens, they are in the category of vulnerable people who are prone to infection.
"So, while cherishing the moment to be with them, our main responsibility is to protect them from infection," he said in his special address on the Movement Control Order (MCO) on Sunday.
