All agencies or companies under the state government must have efficient managements in order to generate significant profits, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
He said the dividends that would be paid to the state government would also increase if the agencies obtained big profits.
"When there are profits, they can pay dividend to the state government and the money can be used to develop Sabah including in the rural areas," he said at the launching of the Seraya Benta Wawasan Sdn Bhd Oil Palm Factory (BWSB) near here, on Saturday.
He also hoped all the agencies could boost efforts so as not to be left behind by private sector companies.
Meanwhile, Musa, who is also Sabah Foundation Trustee chairman, congratulated BWSB for its success in opening the factory.
"I believe it is a success for BWSB in strengthening its capability to optimise the products from oil palm. The state government always supports such efforts and initiatives as it has impacts on increasing productivity of palm oil based products.
"It is also in concert with the direction of development and progress of the economy of Sabah to expand the agriculture sector," he said.
In this regard, Musa urged all BWSB staff to continue to work with high determination and commitment to create more successes in the future, to simultaneously help boost the economy in the state.
Later when attending the Tawau International Culture Festival as the compound of the Tawau Municipal Council building, Musa said such festivals were good to bring the leaders and people closer.
It also served as a platform for the various ethnic groups in the state to get to know each other's cultures, he said, adding that he would continue to give his support to the festival.
