The Sepang Municipal Council (MP Sepang) has no jurisdiction over the North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) as both came under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government and not the State Government.
Expressing regret over the high court decision to allow the Automated Enforcement System (AES) cameras , the State Government has filed an appeal. They have also directed the state Legal Advisor and MP Sepang Legal Department to look through the judgement notes.
High Court Judge Datuk Zaleha Yusuf had allowed Beta Tegap Sdn Bhd to install AES cameras on the two highways.
On December 19 last year, the High Court allowed Beta Tegap's application for a judicial review to challenge the council's decision, filed on Dec 12.
In the application, Beta Tegap claimed the council, through a letter dated Nov 19, 2012, that the company had to seek permission in order to set up AES camera poles at KM301.7 of the PLUS and KM6.6 of the SKVE, both in Dengkil, Sepang.
