'State government not involved in logging activities'
The Kedah state government has denied that it is involved in logging activities allegedly taking place in the Wang Perah forest in Jitra.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azizan Abdul Razak said the area was a private land and logging activities were carried out by the land owner.
He said the owner also planned to use the land for agricultural activities.
Azizan also quashed allegations that the state government were responsible for approving logging activities in the area.
On Monday Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum visited the area in question and had asked the state government to be more efficient in carrying out enforcement activities.
