IPOH:The new Perak Menteri Besar, Datuk Saarani Mohamad has given an assurance that the political imbroglio over the past week has not caused the state government to lose focus.
Assisted by the State Secretary and state government staff, he will ensure the welfare of the people of Perak continues to be looked after.
In this regard, he said, he had held a meeting with government officials on Thursday night to discuss the 2021 Budget which will be tabled in the State Assembly sitting next Wednesday.
"Next I will call the first Exco meeting which will be held on Monday followed by another on Tuesday.
“We will call all 59 ADUNs who will be invited to Casuarina for us to hold a budget-related briefing so that they can debate it based on the briefing we give, on Wednesday after the presentation.
"We are doing all these because we want to prove to the people of Perak that whatever has happened in the past one week, has not caused the government to lose focus," he said in a press conference after starting his first day of duties at his office at Perak Darul Ridzuan Building here on Friday
Earlier, he entered the office by scanning the time recorder card at the office entrance at 9 am.
He was greeted on arrival by the State Secretary, Datuk Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim together with the State Legal Adviser, Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin and the State Financial Officer, Datuk Zulazlan Abu Hassan.
The 14th Menteri Besar of Perak is scheduled to hold a meeting with senior state government department officials this afternoon to interact with each other so that there is understanding to continue the excellent service to the people of Perak.
On Thursday, Saarani was sworn in as Menteri Besar before the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah at Istana Iskandariah.
It ended the political turmoil that occurred after Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu failed to get the support of the majority in the motion of confidence in him as Menteri Besar during the State Assembly sitting on December 4.
