Police have recorded the statements from two individuals to facilitate investigation on the racist remark allegedly made by Deputy Penang Chief Minister II P.Ramasamy last year.

Timur Laut District Police chief ACPMiorFaridalatrash Wahid the police had to reopen the investigation after a businessman lodged a police report on the matter at the Jalan Patani police station on Wednesday.

"Yes, the (alleged racist) remark was an old case andinvestigationhad been done before, but with a new report lodged yesterday, we have to investigate," he told Bernama when contacted here on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar posted a tweet which linked to Ramasamy and the alleged racist remark he made about the May 13 tragedy.

Khalid also tweeted: "Kerap kali @PDRMsia ingatkan supaya hati2 keluarkan kenyataan, masih ada yg degil. KP Pg sila jalankan tugas". (The police have reminded the people so many times to be careful when making statements, some people are still stubborn. Penang CPO, please do your duty.")
