PKR Deputy President Mohamed Azmin Ali urged all party leaders and members to remain calm in facing the present political turmoil in Selangor.
In a statement issued Monday, Azmin asked them not to initiate any move resort anything that would worsen the situation instead told them to trust the party's leadership's ability to solve the crisis based on their experiences and spirit of brotherhood.
“PKR is committed towards Pakatan Rakyat. The unity in Pakatan Rakyat must be strengthened,” said Azmin.
“Therefore, I hope that the members and leaders would always remain calm, courteous and wise in every situation. Insyallah, we will use our wisdom to ease this crisis,” he added.
On Friday, PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had said the reason behind PAS’ rejection of PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the new Selangor menteri besar was because she was incapable of shouldering the responsibilities.
He stressed the rejection had nothing to do with the Kajang state assemblyman’s gender, instead it is because she had failed to meet the criteria required of a good leader.
Abdul Hadi also said that the turmoil in Selangor was caused by PKR and not because of PAS’ reluctance to accept the nomination of Wan Azizah as the new state’s MB.
The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah expressed disappointment with PKR and DAP for submitting only one name to replace the state’s MB Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim despite ordered to provide at least two candidates’ names.
To date, the two parties had only submitted Wan Azizah's name to replace Abdul Khalid.
Sultan Sharafuddin's private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani in a media statement, said the Ruler is deeply saddened that the two parties did not heed his decree on August 27 to submit more than one name for the MB post.
In a press statement, Mohamad Munir confirmed that the palace had received the list of candidates from the three parties, but only PAS obliged to the Sultan’s orders by submitting three names.
