Stay united, Sultan Azlan Shah tells people

Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah has reminded the people to remain united and live in goodwill, peace and harmony to help build a prosperous nation.
The message was conveyed by the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah in his speech at a thanksgiving ceremony to mark Sultan Azlan Shah's 30-year reign at Istana Iskandariah here on Monday.
He said although the Sultan was advised by medical experts to rest, he was nevertheless, keen on keeping abreast with current developments in the country, with the masses always in his thoughts.
Raja Nazrin said Sultan Azlan Shah stressed the importance of sticking to divine principles, realising the greatness of the Almighty by being humane, loving fellow human beings and not destroying nature and refraining from cruelty to fellow beings.
He said the Sultan also cautioned that every rank and position be filled with trust and accountability to the people.
Sultan Azlan Shah also reminded that fortune favoured the state and national resources which were managed efficiently, honestly, transparently and with integrity shunning corruption, abuse of power and wastage, enhancing the country and ensuring the lives of the people would be peaceful and prosperous.
He also touched on the importance of prioritising unity in this country which was made up of different races, practising different religions and having different cultures and language backgrounds.
Raja Nazrin said Sultan Azlan Shah also stressed on the importance of the rule of law which should be respected and enforced fairly, without discrimination or prejudice.
He said the Sultan highlighted the importance of a government based on complete trust on the principle of constitutional monarchy that served as the cornerstone of stability, source of justice, unity and as a unification umbrella.
Sultan Azlan Shah ascended the Perak Throne as the 34th Sultan on February 3, 1984.
