Stepfather of abused victim in remand for seven days

The stepfather of a five-year-old boy who died, believed to have been abused, in a Felda scheme in Hulu Besut, is in remand for seven days beginning today.
Magistrate Tuan Ruzuaini Tuan Lah issued the remand order against the man following an application by the police for investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides the death sentence upon conviction.
The boy died last Wednesday. He was brought to the Besut Hospital at about 3.30 am, but was confirmed to have already died.
According to a man who brought the boy to the hospital, he was carrying the boy on his motorcycle when both of them fell off on a dirt road and were injured.
A police report was lodged after the doctor noticed old wounds on the boy.
A post-mortem report revealed that the boy suffered intestinal perforation from blunt trauma.
