Storm lashes federal capital, falling trees and damaging property

Heavy rain and strong winds lashed through the federal capital this afternoon, leaving trail of destruction in several locations due to falling trees which crashed onto cars and houses.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue operation centre head, Samsol Maarif Saibani said the incident, which occurred about 5.30 pm, also caused a garage to collapse, causing damage to four cars underneath it, at Jalan Lengkuk Abdullah in Bangsar.
There were also reports on falling trees near the Bank Negara KTM station, Mid Valley heading to Cheras Expressway, Old Klang road heading to the Federal Highway, Hotel Midah at Jalan Kampung Attap, Desa View Towers in Taman Melawati and along Jalan Bunus to Jalan Raja Laut.
"As at 6.45 pm, the Fire and Rescue Department and Kuala Lumpur City Hall received 10 reports on falling trees, damaged property and road obstruction.
"However, there is no report of a casualty," he said when contacted by Bernama here today.
