Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the confiscation of Christian books, CDs and DVDs at KLIA2 recently could have been avoided if all the government agencies were streamlined, the Malay Mail Online reported.
He said the whole episode could have been avoided if the Customs Department had checked with the Home Ministry before confiscating the items.
Earlier, the Home Ministry in a press statement said the books, CDs and DVDs containing the word "Allah" were seized due to suspicion.
According to the statement, the situation had aroused suspicion when the materials were taken down to the main terminal.
The seizure was made from a man, Maklin bin Masiau who arrived from Medan, Indonesia.
The seized books, CDs and DVDs were handed over to the ministry on Oct 27 and the letter of detention to review the consignment was dated Oct 27, 2014, it added.
