Strong earthquake rocks Sabah

A strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake rocked Sabah early Friday, US geologists said.
The US Geological Survey said the quake at a depth of 10 kilometres, with its epicentre located 19 kilometres from Ranau and 54 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu.
Following the quake, Sabah police have confirmed that no known deaths have been reported so far.
State police commissioner Datuk Jalaluddin Abdul Rahman however said, three people had been injured in the incident on Mount Kinabalu, including a Turkish citizen.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department has also begun operations to seek and rescue stranded climbers on the mountain.
According to the department's deputy chief, Zuraidah Latip, there were at least 195 climbers and 43 guides on Mount Kinabalu.
Meanwhile the Meterological Department of Malaysia (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for residents in Ranau to be on alert for the next 24 hours for possible aftershocks.
It said, they are also currently monitoring the situation.
