Barisan Nasional (BN) component are on the right track to face the 14th general election (GE14) with strong mutual understanding among them in line with every decision made by the Prime Minister who is also BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said the acceptance and team spirit shown by all the presidents of BN component parties were very good for the party.
"The issue of this mutual understanding has been emphasised by Datuk Seri Najib himself, and I am confident that the acceptance of all component parties is very good and they understand the concept of BN.
"What is important now is that we must not allow anything to come between BN component parties and that we must remain united to face the GE14," he told reporters after attending the BN Supreme Council meeting chaired by Najib at Menara Dato 'Onn at PWTC here today.
Meanwhile, MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam said the party would try to minimise domestic issues and that there would be no fight for seat allocation as the matter would be decided by the BN chairman.
"On the Cameron Highlands seat, we did not discuss it specifically. As the prime minister suggests, we will put the party first and that no individual should make any statement with total disregard of the party leadership.
"Exchange of seat, on the other hand, is possible in BN. All that matters is that the candidate is selected based on mutual benefit and mutual agreement," he said.
MyPPP president Tan Sri M. Kayveas also agreed to adhere to the party leadership's decision on seat allocation and selected candidates.
"We leave it to the boss (Prime Minister) to decide. We will continue working hard and show solidarity as BN component parties...we are confident that the chairman will make a fair decision for all BN component parties, including about the Cameron Highlands seat," said Kayveas who had announced his intention to contest the Cameron Highlands seat, either on BN or independent ticket.
