Student found hanged before breaking of fast with family

A Form Three schoolgirl was found hanged with a piece of rope in her bedroom at the family home in Hulu Besut on Friday night.

This followed a misunderstanding with her mother who had reprimanded the teenager for scolding her eight-year-old nephew for littering in front of the bedroom.

The police have ruled out foul play in the incident which occurred about 7pm.

The body was sent to the Besut Hospital.

In confirming the incident, acting Besut police chief DSP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the victim was upset with her mother for scolding her and went into her room.

"About half an hour later, before the breaking of fast, the girl's mother had asked the nephew to call the victim to set up the food dishes, only to find her dead," he told reporters here on Saturday.
