One of the three Malaysian students questioned by Greater Manchester police a week after a suicide bombing at a concert by American pop star Ariana Grande which killed 22 people at the Manchester Arena on May 22, has returned home since it is the University's semester break.
Muhammad Helmy, 22, from Negeri Sembilan and pursuing a degree at the University of Manchester arrived via flight MH001 from London and was received by his parents and UMNO Overseas' Students Bureau chairman Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican who is also the deputy Foreign Minister at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), here Monday.
The press were told to not take pictures of the individual or seek his comments since the parents and family members want the press to respect the privacy of the individual.
On May 29, Muhammad Helmy and two other Malaysian students were taken in for questioning by the Greater Manchester police at about 5.40pm (local time) and released at about 9pm.
Reezal Merican said all three students who were questioned by the country's National Crime Agency were released without any conditions.
"The student was not sent home but back on holiday and will return to United Kingdom and continue his studies," he said adding that all three students were not harmed throughout the investigation.
The three Malaysian students were among 16 students detained for investigations.
Two other students who were with Muhammad Helmy are expected to return soon.
