A seven-year-old student of an international school in Sedayan was killed, while seven of her school mates were injured in a crash involving the school van they were travelling in and a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle at Jalan Sendayan-Seremban, near Taman Mantau Indah today.
Seremban district police chief ACP Muhamad Zaki Harun identified the student as K. Thivashini.
He said the school van driver, S. Aaaron, 33, who sustained serious injury, and the seven injured students, were sent either to the Seremban PKJ Specialist Hospital or the Columbia Hospital here for treatment.
The crash occurred about 4 pm when the driver of the 4WD, with three people inside, travelling in the opposite direction, was believed to have lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to skid and then veered into the path of the school van.
"The 4WD over-turned several times and then hit by the school van which was carrying eight students from an international primary school in Sendayan," he told reporters here.
He said the driver of the 4WD, aged 18, was seriously injured in the crash, while two passengers in the vehicle, aged 19 and 28, escaped with minor injuries.
