Sultan of Johor attends Chap Goh Mei celebration

The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar Thursday night attended the Chap Goh Mei celebration at Danga Bay here.

Sultan Ibrahim and his wife, Raja Zarith Sofia Sultan Idris Shah arrived at Danga Bay Convention Centre at 8 pm.

He distributed 60,000 mandarin oranges to the 15,000 people from 15 Chinese associations in Johor.

The audience were entertained to a lion dance, songs by popular singers Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and Melody Tan and a fireworks display.

The event was organised by Iskandar Waterfront Holdings and Johor Tourism.

State Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong said it shows close cooperation between the Johor people regardless of race and religion.

"The close cooperation made Johor the state with the highest investment last year. Hopefully, this will continue in the year of the goat," he added.
