Sultan of Perak will only appoint MB once convinced there is simple majority - Annuar Zaini

IPOH:The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah will appoint a new Menteri Besar only after being convinced that a state assemblyman has the support of a simple majority.

That is the message of Perak Senate Member, Datuk Seri Annuar Zaini related to the political crisis in the state.

“Sultan Nazrin took note as in previous days. His Highness' role is only after being convinced that the candidate (of Menteri Besar) to be presented has received the support of a simple majority.

"The Palace is ready, when it is convinced that there is a candidates who has got a simple majority, to take the oath of office as the new Menteri Besar," he told the media at the Istana Kinta compound on Sunday.

He had earlier informed that Sultan Nazrin had consented the request of UMNO President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to have an audience at 10 this morning.

He said during the audience that lasted almost an hour, Sultan Nazrin was informed of the latest developments from the UMNO point of view as well as the conclusions reached in the meeting on Saturday night.
