KOTA BHARU: The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, today called on all elected representatives in the state to assist the people get registered for COVID-19 vaccination and help them get to and back from the immunisation centres.
The ruler's senior private secretary, Datuk Nik Mohd Shafriman Nik Hassan, said Sultan Muhammad V was disappointed with the low number of people from the state who had registered for the vaccination.
"His Royal Highness praised the people of Kelantan who have registered for vaccination but expressed disappointment at the 33 per cent registration rate (as of yesterday).
"The ruler wants all elected representatives in Kelantan to assist the people who need help to register for the vaccination and who have difficulty getting to the immunisation centres," he said in a statement.
He also said that Sultan Muhammad V called on the people of Kelantan, in the state and elsewhere, to take a serious view of the rising number of COVID-19 infections and comply with the measures to protect themselves and their families.
Nik Mohd Shafriman said the sultan called on the people of Kelantan outside the state not to return to the state now unless they had urgent matters to attend to so as to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection among the elderly and other vulnerable people.
He said the sultan expressed his gratitude to all frontliners, particularly the staff of the Health Ministry, who served tirelessly and with dedication for society.
Sultan Muhammad V also wanted the people to play their respective roles by complying with the SOPs, such as observing quarantine and inter-state travel restrictions, so as to bring down the number of COVID-19 cases.
