Summit in KL to discuss trends, challenges impacting the digital future

KUALA LUMPUR: The World Digital Economy and Technology Summit (WDETS), to be held here for two days starting tomorrow, will bring together key stakeholders in the digital economy to discuss key trends, strategic challenges, major issues and risks impacting the digital future.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed is expected to deliver the opening address at the event, organiser KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific (KSI) said in a statement today.

Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC) chairman Andrew Weir will give the welcome remarks and Paris Peace Forum president Pascal Lamy will deliver a special keynote address on "Digital: Globalisation or Deglobalisation".

Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin is also scheduled to speak on the topic of "Digitalisation of the Plantation Industry".

"It is a meeting of minds among technologists, digital entrepreneurs, corporate executives, policy advocates, digital natives, health specialists, educationists, and civil society to take stock of the future digital economy and to be future-ready," KSI said.

Over 300 participants are expected to attend the event physically while about 500 delegates will participate virtually.
