Sungai Air Tawar assemblyman dies

Sungai Air Tawar State Assemblyman Kamarol Zaki Abdul Malik, 58, passed away at his residence in Kampung Sungai Air Tawar this morning.

He was found unconscious in his house at around 9am, according to Utusan Online, quoting his special secretary Mohamad Fariq Roslan.

“He was supposed to attend the 'Ziarah Kasih Sedetik Bersamamu' programme at Kampung Sekendi this morning,” he said to the news portal.

Meanwhile, Bernama reported his driver Mohd Sufaat Salimin saying he only realised Kamarol Zaki had passed away at 8am when he wanted to fetch the assemblyman to attend a programme in the constituency.

According Mohd Sufaat, upon realising Kamarol Zaki did not get out of the house, he had to force open the door and found the assemblyman lying unconscious in the living room.

Sabak Bernam District Police chief Supt Nor Azmi Isa, when contacted by Bernama, confirmed the news of his death but did not disclose any further details.

In the last general election, Kamarol Zaki defeated PAS candidate, Wahid Rais with 1,416 majority votes.
